If you want to move from one string to another high string then use your second finger while first finger should continue doing the same. Or sometimes when you need to play some close notes then use your thumb and first finger simultaneously. Sometimes for complicated chords and notation you need to use your third finger as well, but as a beginner you must practice with two fingers initially then gradually you will master the art.
